Wool Blanket

The wool blanket requires a bit of care, but this is a small price to pay considering the benefits such a blanket can provide. The wool blanket can potentially provide comfort and warmth for decades if you do take care of it. They tend to be very thick and very warm.

A wool blanket cannot be machine washed. Doing so will cause the blanket to shrink, and become stiffer and less comfortable. Some variations of the wool blanket are treated with a chemical that allows them to be water washed, but generally speaking, dry cleaning is the best way to clean and take care of a wool blanket. And you don’t need to do this too often—once or twice per year should be fine.

Wool can also attract moths, so if you are storing a wooden blanket for a while, make sure that moths won’t be able to come in contact with it. Moth-proofing the storage space is the best way to do this. If you take these steps, a wool blanket can last for decades, and even as long as a lifetime.
